It is not necessary to provide an exact number for the value of Decedent’s estate. You only need to provide an estimated value (e.g., not more than $100,000). The gross value of Decedent’s estate, as defined for federal estate tax purposes, includes the value of Decedent’s interest in all real property, stocks, bonds, mortgages, notes, cash, life insurance, and other assets.
This questionnaire provides only the basic information needed to determine the heirs of
Decedent’s estate and/or to prepare the Affidavit of Heirship. Once completed and reviewed, it is possible that you will be asked for additional information. If you are unsure whether any additional information is necessary, please contact us to discuss.
8. AFFIANTS INFORMATION
Provide the names of two disinterested people who knew Decedent and Decedent’s family history well to act as Affiants. The two Affiants must be willing to sign the Affidavit of Heirship after it is prepared and verify that the information contained in the Affidavit of Heirship is true. A “disinterested” person means someone who is not related to the Decedent and does not have an interest in Decedent’s estate either as an heir of Decedent or beneficiary under Decedent’s will.
